3 Years in the Library

Over the past three years has been the most fun time in my life and it all started when I first joined in the central library’s “Teen’s Space” program. They taught me many new things with in the programs like health buddy, free writing, and much more. I have wonderful times when we have the opportunity to go on field trips to see new things within our own city or out exploring new cities with different customs. Later on a year or two I was accepted to the “Laura Bush program” and be able to…See More

My Update.

My time here at the Santa Ana Public Library has been so memorable and has opened so many doors for me. Nearly three year ago I participated in the Laura Bush Grant as a senior in high school. While in the program I learned how a library functions, how to shelve books, and how to use Photoshop and other computer software. During my time with the program I graduated from Middle College High School in 2011 with 42 college units from Santa Ana College, in 2012 I graduated from Santa Ana College…See More

3 years?!?!

Hello Everyone          I can't believe it's been 3 years since the LB program started at the Library! It's been so much fun working with all of you! All the experience I have attained is irreplaceable. 3 years huh... that means that I'm old now D: well not as old as our senior librarians, but pretty high up there. Just kidding (I'm so going to get in trouble for that comment) I do have to say that in the last 3 years I have changed. I ran the computer lab at Newhope Library and that was a…See More

Great experience!

Although the Laura Bush grant has come to an end, it gave me an experience that I would've never thought I'd get. I started off as a Page, but then moved my way up to Clerk and Tutor. Through this grant, I've gained a tremendous amount of experience. I've also worked in the History Room and Reference desk, learning something new every day. I'm thankful and grateful that the Santa Ana Public Library was able to get this grant as it gave many new opportunities, opening their eyes to different…See More

Thanks to all

This has been an awesome experience, I never thought working at the library could be so much fun. Its not all grumpy grandmas like on TV and movies, there are so many different people working there and a lot to learn from them and their experiences. I learned many things about how a library works and learned skills I can use in life. There are so many pieces to make a library run and so much I still need/want to learn. I have become more focused and motivated to learn and continue my education,…See More

Amazing journey

We come to the end of yet another year. Time flies by in the blink of an eye. These past three years have been an amazing journey. I got to meet new people and got to know those who I already knew even better. I am grateful for having had the opportunity to participate in the Laura Bush grant. It is an experience of a lifetime. I learned many skills and improved on those that needed shaping. I got to know the story behind what a librarian does and what it takes to get there and that not all…See More

End of Year Three

I hardly know where to begin.  This has been one of the most satisfying periods in my professional life.  The challenge for all of us was huge; this was a very large and complex program for a small library like ours.  It was a lot of work, but I believe we have been successful beyond all of our expectations. The reason for that is that all of you - LBers, staff, and management - came together to make it happen.  We became a family in a way: caring for one another, rooting for one another, and…See More

Thank You....

The opportunity to participate in the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian grant program has been, remarkably, a life changing one.  Throughout the program I received the mentorship needed to be a well-rounded librarian serving a diverse community, attended staff development trainings, and was also given financial assistance to complete my studies at San Jose State University. Some of my highlights/ accomplishments while in the program include:-          Cross Training in various departments,…See More
